Hi hawkers
I was wondering if anyone tried fishing crappie at night on crappie bay?
would it be worth my time to get out and target them? I usually fish them with tiny spoons tipped with minnow or waxies. or a split shot with a minnow or waxies. Is there any tips I can use such as what baits to use at night ???
Glow jigs are a must ! I like to use a spot light to charge them. A lantern is also handy so you can see whats going on and it'll keep ur hands warm or you can use a couple of glow necklaces bought at a dollar store and just connect them around ur hole. Crrappie are active at night for sure!
Actually at Crappy Bay the night bite is non-existant and we've tried lots. I agree with riverdog crappies are usually active at night just not a Crappy Bay.
When hell freezes over, I'll be there icefishing!!!
If you can't stand behind our troops,
Please feel free to stand in front of them!!!
Experience is that marvellous thing that enables you to recognize a mistake when you make it again
I guess I'm going shopping tomorrow for some glow jigs , would long island lock be a good spot for them???? The bottem bay near the locks where the water don't move ??? What would u tip the glow jigs with ( waxie or minnows)??
Well I guess I'll give it a shot at both places and if it don't work well I will give up fishing for crappie at night and just fish during the day for them
i've read that in clear water they will be more active at night but in stained water they will be more active during the day and at dawn/dusk. makes sense. not sure what the water clarity is in crappie bay but i know that the st. lawrence is gin clear!
