New Toy

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Yep....that's the plan. Perhaps we will need to take it to some of those Quebec trout lakes you've told me about....

Thanks pal!

I am in no way a serious trout guy but I'll go for sure.
Like I said there are alot of back tributaries west of Perth I'll be fishing this summer.

Also along with some private trout lakes in Mattawachan that a buddy of mine owns! :D

Well went to pick up the motor yesterday....

I AM IMPRESSED!!! WOW!

We knew the motor had about 2-4 hrs use on it (if that) but it runs like a top! smooth in both gears, starts first pull.....LOVE IT!

Fine. She's rated for a max of 7hp.
Seems there are more used 4 and 6 hp motors out there and also the occasional "antique" 3hp.

We really did luck out on this. I have seen older motors selling for much more. This is just a little boat for back lakes and for duck hunting in some creeks I know of.

Alot of small lakes and tributaries around my hunt camp. Relatively untouched save for the odd dude in an old tinner.

Hard to put a 16ft side console in there when there aren't any boat launches or the launches that do exist are pretty shady.

We also want to do alot of w/e trips with the kids this summer so this is a nice little boat to put on top of a camper.

Saw these a while back, but was scared off by the carrying capacity.
It says it is only rated for 500lbs?
How has the boat handled with you and all the gear?

Fine.
While I do not advocate ignoring the weight capacity, I also find they tend to be a little on the low side.

My 12 ft Jon boat had a lower weight capacity. Yet in the brochure it shows two guys over 200lbs in the boat, a 60lb labrador, an anchor and a motor....I am sure that was more than 500lbs.....

Just picked up an Eagle Cuda 168 Portable at lunch....(Thanks Geos!)

So got the little boat, the motor and a portable finder....
Good to go....can't wait to hit those back tribs that have walleye....

Also just got access to an area stocked with Browns.....
Place soon to be purchased by me!

Good luck with your new boat and motor, Jamsers. It'll probably serve you very well!
