Mad. River Outta Burnstown

Anybody have any experience with this section o' the Madawaska?? :o I'm already bored with Calabogie Lake :roll: :roll: (my 7th year here) so I'd like to try something new. :wink: I already know about Black Donald/Centennial Lakes, but that is just too much water to cover & try to pinpoint fish 'hideouts' :shock: :shock:

Having driven down 508 every year and eyeing the parts o' the river you can see from the road I've always been intrigued so this year I'm gonna try it out! :D There's a public launch at the east side of Burnstown so I'll put in there & I think I can go from Stewartsville dam to Calabogie, with maybe a couple o' precarious sections (rapids, strong current :shock: )

Anyone with any feedback would be greatly appreciated, Thanx!! :D Cyber Out!! 8) 8)

I've launched out of Burnstown beach and headed East to the dam a few times.
The water is really deep, like 40 feet deep, 3 feet from shore. I've nailed loads of 1lb smallies, but nothing of any size. I did get a few nice pike by the dam against the north shore before the warning buoys.
I also got a small walleye against some of the cliffs, down 30-35 ft on a jig and minnow.

Its a "natural" launch, watch out for the big rock.
Stewartville Dam up to the rapids, close to the picnic tables on 508 is all navigable.
Smallies down towards the dam, lots of overhanging trees, structure and cover.
If you go under the Burnstown bridge, head towards Calabogie you'll see a river flowing in from the right, opposite that there is a bay where I've caught walleye before.
Lots of water there and difficult to get bored, I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

Nice little spot that's always hot with people. And still good fishing is at Springtown. Head towards Calabogie on Calabogie Rd. (Hwy 508 I think it is) There's a culvert spot with parking avail. You may even want to launch the boat there too. A buddy of mine caught a nice 4 lb pickeral not more than 40 ft out from Culvert fishing from the boat.

Thanx-a-bunch to all who replied, got some great tips on where to try. 8) Was talkin' to Ruth (Mrs. Jim for those who aren't familiar :wink: ) & she offered her best spot as being around the pilings o' the old Burnstown bridge (also got that from one o' you guys :wink: :lol: ), so that's the 1st place I'm gonna try! Also like the idea o' the big culvert near Springtown. :) All pumped up for it now, gonna do it on Friday as the close to my trip. :( As always, way too short! :cry: :cry:
