Thanks everyone for taking the time to comment on the report. It was great to get out and is always nice to enjoy the company of whoever is out and about. It was great talking with Bts, Bender and all the other fishermen and ladies that were there this weekend. There were some real monsters caught by some other fishermen that were fishing up at the mouth of the lake. It was a little rough for my liking way up there so I just bob along in Adolphus Reach which was just fine with me.
I am not really sure why there are some negative feelings towards Merland's except maybe some of the cottages are a little bit too small for the amount of people that they say they are suppose to hold.It is also a little tight trying to manoever boats to the launch with so many other vehicles jockey around and sometimes there are more boats there then available berths but I must say the both times we have been there we had a great time. This is really a great spot and just like any trip you can make it what you want it to be. As for there being cottages available this weekend, it certainly looked fairly full to me but then again I was only there in the evenings and maybe alll the vehicles there, were just visitors. I definitely would go back again.

Thanks George ,Mike and the rest of the gang. Had an excellent time, maybe I,ll catch one next time. Catch ya on the tipup. KRP
Hey George , love the report and pics. It was good seeing you again although you cost me 5 bucks on a weight bet...... (you could have lied for me!!)
I don't see what the problem with Merlands is, we stay there two times in the fall every year and have never run into any kind of problems.....maybe some are just a little pickier and maybe harder to get along with than others.... I don't know.
All I do know is that we had a great weekend as well with a few fish thrown in.

Bender it not a case of being pickier or getting along with others. Its a case of weather you catch Kevin at a bad time or not. All I will say is the main beef I had is they charged my credit card money that had nothing to do with the cost of the place , I got no explanation and they refused to pay me back or appologize. So as I see it, they figure they have the market cornered and can do whatever. I also recieved pms from others who had issues with the place and they will not be back. It is to bad because it is a nice location. I am sure that 99.9999% of the time it is fine but we just happened to get there at a bad time.
None the less, great report and nice pics. Good luck next time out. We are out there almost every Sunday until ice up, if there is one

Good fishin Hitman. Saw ya out there, sorry I didn't get to say hello.
Bender, I'm not all that fussy...but when he books 5 guys into a cabin, ya expect there to be more than 1 bed.
It's ok though, I asked for a floor foam and the 3-18"X18" lawnchair cusions he left on the doorstep made paying full price well worth it.
Picton Harbour Inn has some great rooms and they don't charge for extra guys/gals that you want to pile in. Just bring a foam. Sportsman is good, but they charge & limit extra bodies and parking can be tough. The Tip is perfect for the dirty fisherman, but it's like playing the lotto with a reservation...sometimes ya win, sometimes ya don't.
Picton really needs some improved group accomodations. Picton Inn is my favorite so far.

Nice to see you caught a couple of beuts also Bender. if I knew you were betting I would have tipped the scale in your favour.
Sorry about that! Sorry to hear about the problem other people have had at Merland's it really does seem to be a great spot but I know if you are treated bad anywhere, or feel taken advantage of. it certainly leaves a real bad taste in your mouth. I have had that feeling with different establishments and it just frustrates me to no end!
If the opportunity comes up next fall and rooms are available I still would return. Those walleye are great and I know there are some great big grand - daddys that have my name on it.

I'm new to the board and new to BoQ, but so far I have learned that you do not need a planer board, however it will increase your chances of catching fish, as the fish will move away sideways from the boat as you travel over them. The planer board should give you access to thse fish.
Also if you have multiple rods out the planer will reduce tangles from all the lines going to a single point.
Good luck and have a great day.
