This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Same for me. Joco from the first post to today and still learning. I have been to other sites and they are not bad but this one is close to home. and for the most people have been great but I do push buttons some times. This site I start my day with and finish the day with so keep it up people.

I must say this site has helped me alot from learning new techiques, boat maintance, meeting great people from all over, I must say though the part i like the best are the group days on the water or on the ice, it's just nice to have one common interest with so many people. It's just a great all around way to relax and have fun. Thanks Fish-Hawk :D

Me I enjoy Fish-hawk for much the same reason as anybody else, met a lot of fisherman and made a bunch of good fishing buddies, learned a lot of new techniques. Always like to go out fishing with other people and try to catch on to there tricks while hopefully they do the same. It's always nice to have get togethers just to shoot the #$%%. it's too bad that sometimes things get out of hands but it usually settles down after a couple of days.

I read something lately that really caught my attention and I thought it summed up the benefit of FH. It is from a book that I'd recommend called the Happiness Hypothesis by Jonathan Haidt.
Try to create a group of friends who do things together. Many of us see individual friends for meals, or a drink, at which we catch up with each others lives. But how much more fun it is to have a gang -- as on so many television shows -- who gets together weekly or monthly to share an activity (e.g., cooking, playing cards, making wisecracks about a TV show). We are fundamentally tribal creatures; we feel most complete in packs, gangs, and groups. If you don't have a gang, start with one or two friends and ask them to invite one or two of their friends to an activity you organize.
When out on the shore, in a boat, at the tackle shop, on the ice, at the pub it is a lot more fun and enjoyable to recognize the faces of the people that share your same hobby.

In addition to this, I think C.P.R.R - Catch. Photo. Release. Report is 100% more fun than just C.P.R fishing. My girlfriend doesn't care much about what I catch - I find the comments that people leave on reports quite encouraging!

Finally, I think FH encourages conservation. People's photos and reports get subjected to a peer-review system - people congratulate others on releasing trophy fish, and sometimes suggestions are posted on how to better handle and release fish.

Great post Joco!

These are very interesting question, this site allows a group of people with a common interest to express themselves and to help other people like myself to become better fishermen/women.It also allows people to take part in many different discussions about their favourite hobby weather it is about a certain technique they use to catch a certain fish or to let buddies in on hot deals to save you a few bucks. The get togethers are great and although everyone can't particapate as much as they probably would like, it is great to have the option available. It is nice to put a face to a nickname and to actually realize that there are some great people and mentors that we might never get to meet but you can get great information from them just by pushing a few buttons. Still haven't been able to learn how to post picture on this site and I am sure it is easy it just I have no idea what a IMG tag is or a file path or how you cut and paste but I know with persistance and a lot help I will conquer this task also. Thanks to this site it gets people talking about a sport that they have a common interest in.

You know what I like best is the fact that as a new member who joined a few weeks ago I have already been welcomed into this group...How often does that happen. You guys are willing to share tips and good lakes(well most like to share there lakes but you have to have secret locations) but I do appretiate the warm welcome I have recieved and hope to meet many of you through fishing days with you. I think I may already have some fishing time booked with some of you at some point this hardwater season which I am really excited about. I really want to meet most of you and learn the vast knowledge you have to offer. FishHawk is now my only site I visit for info. This is a great site with a great group of people. Please feel free to help me out at any point because like I said before if you think you have nothing left to learn then you are not an expert you are a fool. Well again thanks guys for such a great welcome and keep up the good work. By the way these group adventures how do you get involved with this???

I have definitely picked up some easy to apply fishing tips and gear related advice from people on this site.

I've also had the pleasure of making the acquaintance of several fine people who frequent this board, and sharing some fishing, good conversation and laughs with them.

These people are considered my friends, but so are the many I have yet to meet, but enjoy such a good repoire with. Even if only for a few moments a day, FH.Net provides me with great reports, useful and practical fishing info and the guaranteed laugh or two.

Keep it going, people. It's a good thing.

W.
Thanks, Dad, for taking me fishing when I was a kid.

With young kids, busy work schedule, life in general, I don't get to fish as much as I'd like. This site lets me enjoy fishing even when I'm not out doing it. Reading about other peoples fishing adventures, learning so much about tactics and techniques and thinking about my next chance to get out are as close as I'm going to get a lot of the time. It is great in the middle of a hectic day at work to read a report and see some photos and escape for a little while.....

Since being a member I've been

Mocked, laughed at regularly, banned from other fishing boards, made a fool of by several photoshops of myself, become the enemy of several former members simply because of their association with someone else, threatened, and most recently my personal property has been vandalized.

But it's not all bad.

I've met plenty of good people and learned a lot of fishing info I wouldn't have known normally.

A little word to the wise, if you're going to post on fishing boards dont give out any personal information. There will always be enemies, who are simply jealous, who will carry out their obsessive behaviour. They may even make it their life goal to ruin yours. There are a lot of sick people out there.
