Thar she blowwwwwwws

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Thar she blowwwwwwws

Post by Bassmaster »

What on earth was I thinking??? I saw the sun creep out so I figured I would head down to the Grand for a couple of hours.

Keeping in mind I had two shirts on plus my heavy black fleece pullover, black sweat pants and black rubber boots...

Fortunately the river is still low, however the water temp is now ah how shall I put it? Fresh!!

Saw lots of minnows swimming near shore, which I had never seen before this time of year so I made the trek out to the hole...

No sooner had I set my rod up and put the dewie on, the wind from the west just howled down the river, almost gale force! Now I have extra insulation on me  and even at that I felt like an ice cube!!

Figured I didn't come all the way down here for nothing, so I cast out anyway, got a few hits and that was it. The wind just wouldn't let up, it was raw and cold even to this scribe. So I wimped out and came home... :?

Oh well I tried...

The newest front moving through blew the wind up fast and strong here, too...yesterday early afternoon. It's still going strong with drop in temps this a.m. as well as showers...just lovely... No way we can get the boat out with 2 little ones today.

W.
Thanks, Dad, for taking me fishing when I was a kid.

Hope she blows right through Wednesday ... as long as she lays down for the Quinte.

Sucks though, I was going to hit the Ottawa to check the trolling gear, but it's just plain rough out there.

Yesterday it was supposed to have been damp and breezy.. Perfect excuse to hit the lake for the div 10 bass closer.. Got up , no rain, sky clearing and no wind.. Time to go fishing.... Not!

My wife reminded me..
Since it had been raining for the better part of a week.. And next weekend is Quinte......
The grass needed cutting , racking and baling. The anti-rabitt fence had to be taken down from around the garden. The kids basket ball net put away as well as other various chores. The wind started blowing a little in the aft. but nothing to say Sunday would be

So I tell my wife that I'll be going out Sunday after church (to day) to the river and she says thats fine.
Wake up this morning to find my lawn furnature rolling around the back yard like Texas Tumble weed..  Hopefully its not blowing like this next weekend.

MT and Andre...
No problems... I was out on Quinte today
70 km/h gusts
Gale Force Wind Warnings
And a small craft warning.

Managed to fish for over 4 hours before the wind really picked up
Lost one fish and had one heck of a ride.

cheers'

Had jobs to do Saturday - close pool etc etc. Decided I would go out Sunday - Alarm set for 7 then looked outside - no way :( I hear the marine unit of the Ottawa river were busy plucking would be sailors out of the water in Constance Bay - When will these guys learn - when it's too rough for fisherman, stay at home and stay dry.
