Warm water advisory for C & R

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

I only have one thing to comment on:
Please don't mention incidental catches while summer bass fishing. Lame example. An incidental catch. I've fished musky waters for bass for 30 yrs and only caught 1 musky while targeting bass
I went up to my cottage and caught 8 musky in one day while targetting bass. And no I won't tell anyone what the lake is  They weren't huge, breeding musky by any means either.

I did the water release. I don't see a point in even considering a picture of a musky unless it's over 40 inches anyway. Even then, it's not hard to lean over the side of the boat and smile with your fish.

When I was talking about stopping fishing at 70F I think it was clear I was talking about brown trout not muskies.

Now....about catching muskies while bass fishing. Seriously folks there are always exceptions. What I really love about this place lately always someone chomping at the bit to correct.

Folks,

Michael's message is a valid message and if nothing else, should be considered. People are going to do what people are going to do. You cannot stop that, trust me, I'm trying very hard to keep things on topic, relevant, and respectable.....but I guess as I said, people are going to do what people are going to do. I've cleaned up this thread and put it back into this forum for the simple reason that it is a message. While some may not agree with the blunt presentation of the message, it is only a message that may have an impact on some, even an impact on 1 person out of this entire board will be a successful message.

I will tell you this. I have caught musky and I have netted musky with such exuberant force lifter her out of the water and into the boat due to the excitement that I now know is not the right thing to do. We all learn. There are many experienced anglers out there and many novice anglers out there. For the experienced anglers, you never now it all, learn from the even more experienced anglers. If you think you the most experienced, think about it, you can still learn from the novice. Same thing for the novice anglers. You can never learn enough and your brain will never absorb as much information as it can handle. Forming your own oppinions is left to you, only after you have absorbed enough information to make it so.

This is what Fish-Hawk.Net is striving to provide. A forum for relevant content which provides information to people so that they can forumlate their own oppinions and practises.

I will tell you that my practices have changed, not because someone told me to change them, but because I have formed my own practise based on all the information I have absorbed from you folks who have also formed your own practices. Which is right? Which is wrong? I don't think we can ever be 100% what that answer is, but I think we can get pretty close.

I encourage further conversation on this subject if it is required, and lets all just learn from the information that is presented.

Thanks,
Rob Atkinson

the hooks come off in the net in the water. The lure then gets removed from the net and once the angler and camera are ready I lift the fish hand it to the client for a photo and 10 seconds later the fish is back in the water.

The net manufacturers are all making nets big enough now days to never have the need to take the fish out of the water.
I'll echo TM's statement...(hey Richard, we agree!.. )
That is exactly how it is done :) :) The huge nets allow the fish room to move, and they usually stay very calm.
Pull him out of the water and restain it as best as possible and then remove the hooks.
 :?

This is not the greatest advice  Remove hooks with the fish in the water, warm or cold water.

Bobber you know I have been at these muskies fulltime since 94 and belive me the day I know it all is the day I will quit. I try and learn something new every single day out there, sometimes it's good and sometimes it's bad but I learn from everyone I share a boat of talk muskies with.

After the nice compliments I got about my tip I am going to be changing my signature with a " Tip of the week ". I hope everyone will enjoy that.

Wow!

It's amazing how some of the posts that seem to get mired in controversy early on turn out to be some of the most educational by the time the dust settles!

I was thinking of Joanne. She's very clumsy. One day, she hooked herself 3 times in different spots within a half hour. I wonder if I held her upside down over the side of the boat if she would stop screaming while I removed the hooks :?:
