flying bird pic...

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

flying bird pic...

Post by MuskieWannabe »

Just sitting on the deck the deck the other day and grabbed my camera for a quick flash of the duck flying by. It's not the best quality but I'm hoping that I will see one again before the end of the summer and can then take a beauty with my camera on the proper settings. Pretty cool though nonetheless.

MW,

cool pic. Could that be a loon, though?

Thanks, Dad, for taking me fishing when I was a kid.

I'm about 99% sure that is was a wood duck or something of that sort. He started out in the bay by my cottage where I had a good look at him. Not positive though.

Salmon nailed it - female common merganser

"lawn dart" to my friends in Nipigon

Goosander to the ex-pat Brits here.

Here's a low-res shot of a mated pair on Stony Lake.

Thanks for sharing the cool in-flight shot.

MW...adjust your camera shutter speed to the fastest possible..(if it has such an adjustment) and you will have much better movement shots. Shutter speed is one of the main keys when taking shots of moving objects. Hope this helps. Great pic nonetheless..

:) What Mikey say's is true... but I like the action that a slow shutter speed gives conveying movement in your still photo.

Sweet shot MW. and for heavens sake, keep em' away from Markus.

Markus, I commend you on eating them. i have seen a hooded merganser and they are one of the sickest things I have ever seen. Never would I willinginlg / knowingly put one of those in my mouth.

Cheers,

Scott
