ATV Help

Post by Buckshot »

Was wondering if anyone can help.

I have a 2005 Yamaha Kodiak 400 cc ultramatic ATV.

It recently started acting up in reverse. I have ensured all the fluids are good, new plug, sea foam and gas line anti freeze with fresh gas etc, oil coolant are all good.

While in reverse the bike looses power and acts as if there is water in the fuel of a small engine. (the sput and putter type of action when there is water in gas) I am sure that is not the problem and it is only in reverse. It is a belt drive transmision system in the ATV.

Anyone have any ideas.

I would start by taking a good look at the reverse overide. It sounds as though the rev limiter is kicking in at idle rather then later in the rpm. Maybe it has a short?
