Anyone know anything about these things?

I'm curious as right now I'm having to manually choke my Honda to start it. Not sure if it's that or, the other thing is, I have to prime the bulb well too each time out. Maybe that fuel line needs changing .

How can I be sure my choke is the issue? I'll be bringing it somewhere in the spring for the once over. Mechanic I am not..

Check the fuel line for cracks, specially in cold weather they become kinda brittle.

Having to prime with the buld is a sing of leakage somewhere (it might be very small and almost negligeable)

For the electronic choke what it does is restrain the air intake at start up so that the air/fuel ratio is compatible for ignition.

Not sure what you mean by prime the bulb everytime out? With my fourstroke motor I have to pump the bulb to build pressure again if it sits for more than 3 or 4 days.

Also I always have to choke it (push the key in) to get it to start in cool or cold weather. I have also found that the motor has to be trimed down all the way to help starting in cold weather.

In the summer it turns over with no problems

A problem I found over the summer was a primer bulb that was cracking from sun exposure.Its something you would normally miss,so I would inspect it closely. I replaced both and now carry a spare.

I have to prime my bulb on my four stroke when it sits for a day or two, not sure if this is normal but checking the gas line for leaks is on my check list for winterizing my boat. I also have to prime the motor when its cold.

That's normal because gas dont emit as much vapour and the volume of the fuel in your line decrease beacause of the cold weather.

I have to prime the bulb and use the "advanced throttle" to start it anytime, cold and warm weather...

I think using the advance throttle is normal for most boats WIG.

My starting procedure is this:

1) Squeeze bulb a few times
2) Set throttle to the advance position but in neutral
3) Push key forward to engage electronic choke
4) Turn key to start

Vroom......... away she goes.

When using the advance throttle you have to watch that you don't over-rev the engine... mine has come close a couple of times. Remember you should not be revving your engine more than 5000 rpm.... it will take its toll on engine life.

I think all the info passed my way tells me it's normal what my motor is doing. Just thought it might die on me if I didn't get it looked at next year.
