CMC pt 130 aftermarket power trim

Thinking of replacing my current tilt and trim with one of these puppies! It would be mounted on a 70 Merc, I'm not sure if it would require their transom clamp. Anyone have any experience with one of these?

Not familiar with it, but am curious as I am contemplating putting a motor on the 20' project that has not tilt and trim from the factory.

Seems cheap to me... :wink:

Check out the cost of replacing a power trim and tilt on your motor...the power tilt assembly for my Merc kicker is $933 :shock:

yes, I beleive you'll need the clamp (based on the description of your setup). The only reason I would use one of these units is if both my tilt / trim motor and hydraulics were Fubard. The performance enhancement they mention will not be much on a 70 hp, especially if you are running an aluminum prop. The flex of your prop will counter act any potential gain from the setback, and the elimination of prop slip is a sales pitch considering your particular setup. This unit is essentially a hydraulic jack plate (vertical movement) converted for tilt and trim travel. They're good units and perform well, and as Sheldon mentioned, are a cheaper alternative to replacing with new factory parts. Although, a tilt'n trim unit for a 70 Merc can be found used at a reasonable price and is an easy swap out. Personally I would shop around for a used T&T unit before deciding on this particular setup. If you're looking to enhance your performance...post your rpm numbers at WOT...prop pitch...motor HP and year, and your egine height, and we'll see if there's anything left to get out of that rig of yours. Just my opinion. 8)

1988 70 hp Merc
2 trim cylinders, 1 tilt
3 wires going to the solenoids

Was initially looking for the t/t motor, but I will now need the whole t/t assembly.

Yes power trim units aren't cheap... ET is bang on just under $1000 is normal... is it worth it... i'd say so.. a good investment although installing one after may be hard to justify.
