I started the search in August for a kicker due to the high cost of trolling with my 75hp and a drift sock. I also wanted a little more thrust then my bow mount electric offers for those windy days out on Lake Ontario and Quinte. Well it took a while for a couple of parts needed to make the remote control connections to the motor, so after almost 2 months I have the kicker installed and ready to go.

Here are a few pictures of the 9.9 Pro Kicker and the remote control unit next to the drivers seat below the main motor control.

I have a 'T' in the gas line right now. Next spring when we get some warm weather I am going to lift the back deck and have a second gas tank installed.

I fished with it this weekend an it trolls down to 0.8 mph and has great thrust for strong winds.

ET, it looks like it has power trim and tilt? Am I seeing something that isn't there?

That is a great looking unit.

Would love to hear your thoughts on performance, noise, fuel consuming, etc.

MT, you see power trim and tilt...it takes only 2 seconds for full tilt and you are ready to run. The electric remote key start makes the cold weather starts very easy. I watched a guy at the launch almost pull his arm off while trying to get his manual start kicker going in the cold. I ran it all day Sunday from 9am til 3pm trolling on Quinte and the gas gauge never moved so I figure it is better on gas then my 75hp four stroke It runs very quiet and is very easy to control from the console with the remote control. You have to keep changing the speed when tolling into the wind because you need lots of thrust to stop the bow from swinging around in the wind. The 9.9 seems to be the right amount of thrust for a boat my size with a windsheild and standup top, I figure more is better then less in a kicker used for trolling walleye, most days are windy

Ron if you do get a new boat, order it with a factory installed kicker. It will save you money in the long run.

Congratulations on your new baby ET. I wouldn't be without mine - every thing is so much easier when trolling. I couldn't tell from the picture but I believe that model comes comes with a high thrust 4 blade prop the same as mine - not efficeint for speed, but you can toll all day using little gas and RPM should be sufficient to keep all electronics running without draining batteries.
