With the cold weather upon us and that 4 letter word about to blanket us in a deep freeze again, how many of you work on your boat over the winter months? I'm fortunate enough to have my boat in my garage, therefore every winter I go over it with a fine tooth comb and fix anything that's not been working up to standard, and do any maintenance that's needed...check the livewell pumps, bilge..hosing...etc...I usually pic an upgrade to do each year as a project, last year I installed a new dash and bow plate from Ranger, and a hotfoot. This year I'll be upgrading the trolling motor and possibly doing new carpet, or installing a sound system in her, and maybe a set of Boysen reeds... Anyone else have plans for their rigs over the winter?

Well I'm not sure, .....anything I do, ...would have to be an "afternoon" project........

Like my last one.......

Mine goes into hibernation so to speak...thank goodness, enough projects..

But early Spring out she comes for a thorough going over. Not to mention, have to install a new fish finder now..

Our boat gets snugly tucked under a tarp for a long winter hiatus. You're getting me depressed, Mikey.

I keep my boat in the garage all winter too with the excuse that I will do maintenance but it's really just so I can go and sit in it when I want to

I'm gonna finnish my fishing log and tackle inventory data base. Plus doing some reasearches for boat setup and some rodbuilding :new flipping sticks custom design.

I might have a boat project or 2 on the go.

Usually the VIP hibernates under one of those 'tempo' garages. Right now, the 20' project boat is tucked under a huge tarp.
When all my fishing is done, they may swap spots so I can get a few things started on the 20'er.

Ol 14 gets flipped over on a couple of palletts to keep her up off the ground.

In the spring she gets flipped over again.

Dirty job but someone's gotta do it.

I will put my boat in the barn,,,,,,will change oil,,,spark plug put stuff in carb,,and spark plug hole,,,,,and that it for winter,,,,O and make sher my motor is way down to evacuate the water in it,,,,,,


i would love to sanblast my trailer,,,for next spring,,,,but the probleme is how to put him out off the trailer and back on it,,,,,

mabe instale a trolling plate to,,,,,


OR JUST WAIT FOR THE SPRING FISHING SHOW TO SEE ALL THOSE NICE FISHING BOAT AND GET SOME TEMPTATION

Ah, you have my sympathy and understanding, M.T. We are currently garageless, too, and Brian pines for one. I want a cottage first, though!
But during the winter, when we have to chisel and scrape our cars free of snow and ice, it's a real temptation to do the garage 1st.

PS: good luck with the ongoing boat "projects".

My winter boat projects will be:
1. AirRide pedestals for those bumpy runs up wind;
2. New wiring, deep cycle battery and circuit beakers for a separate power system for my electronics;
3. Install below deck gas tank for kicker motor;

Well I might soup up my aluminum boat this winter if I can get my hands on a cheap trailer! It will have a flippin' deck, bow mount trolling motor, fish finder, rod holders and a motor when I'm done.

Pay for repairs

Seems like I sustained some damage at Lochaber during the first rumble.

Had the motor winterized. When they changed the loer unit oil - more water than oil.

Having it pressure tested to see if it is the seals. If not then it is a warranty job. Either way not good.


Come spring build a rear deck extension for casting and storage purposes

Get repairs done under warranty and hopefully be back in action for the spring
