Dougv, i feel bad that your water pump fell off and ruined your holidays. well not really. Engineer? i believe it. quick to point the finger without giving the marina the chance to make it right. oh and lazy too. an engineer should have been able to change his own friggin' belt.

On one level, I agree with you. Should a member have a problem with a retailer, author a post about it. Great. No problem.Mr.J. wrote:You know what?
I think this is a great post.
If we all shared our bad experiences and good experiences about any and all services, then the servicer had an equal opportunity to respond, then INHO service providers would have no choice but to step up.
We have all felt at one time or another we got screwed over and we've also felt at one time or another someone went out of their way to help us.
But when and where can we share this?
I too have a service I am not happy with, I feel like I haven't gotten what I paid for but I am going to go back and give them the chance to make it right before I share this (yes trailer related so it is part of this community).
You don't have to agree with me and it's 100% fine if you do or don't.
Cheers.
But who the heck is this person?
It is easy for someone to sign up, then three minutes late post something about any retailer they want. The problem is, we have no idea if this guy is a crack pot or unimpeachable like... ummm... errr.... well, you get the idea.
Chances are, we will never see his name in another thread on this board. I hope I am wrong... but there are MANY examples of people signing up to this site just to be a one post wonder. If you are a fishing nut dougv, and end up on this site posting reports and contributing for years to come... then I apologize in advance.
If I were to post something like this, you could look back at a bunch of my posts and get an idea if I fly off the handle if some on does not say have a nice day... or if it takes a lot for me to complain about a company.
The other thing that was mentioned in here is that he was not being fair with Orleans Boat World. He never gave them a chance to make it right before posting his indictment.
I know I would be livid. I *might* have done the same thing as him... but I like to think that I would have given them a chance to make it right.

Just wondering who ended up bolting on the water pump for you? Sounds like good service if some one was able to fit you into their work load today as a new customer.dougv wrote:The last few folks are right. I apologize to the members Fish-Hawk, this is not the forum for axe grinding, didn't intend for it to come to this. Just wanted to warn other people.
I was a more than a little steamed at the waterpump issue that overheated my engine, ruined 2 days of my week's vacation with my family, cost me 2 days of camp site fees, $20 it towing me back to the marina and $50 for another place to bolt on the waterpump.
All I was looking for from Orleans Boat World was an "We are sorry" and for them to fix my problem. It would have taken them less than an hour and and in the end had a happy customer.
Hope nobody else has an experience like this.

Bottom line: if he wanted the problem repaired quickly by the place that made the original repair, posting the negative review before getting the work done was a bad idea. I've experienced a few mistakes made by dealers (usually with cars) and I've always given them the chance to fix the mistake before burning any bridges. You can always post a negative review after the repair is made and then take your business elsewhere.Bass Addict wrote:Good on ya Dougv for posting this.............
I've heard absolutely nothing but Negative service from that place
Give the dealer a second chance to determine why the WATER PUMP WAS NOT INSTALLED.............BS RIGHT THERE
I like that.... we ran it for 30 minutes ....yeah right![]()
I've dealt with OBW for a few years now and I bought a snowblower and trailer from G&G Lalonde before OBW. I have had good service from this dealership and Lorne in particular has always been excellent to deal with whether I've had the work done there or I was trying to troubleshoot some problem on the boat at the cottage.

thats moonshine for you !!
if your not holding your fish right or bashing a boat retailer that in my opinion didn't do the job right in the first place why the h@$# would you take it back to a bunch of loser mechanics. If you drive away with your truck after service on your tire and you wheels fall off do you take it back to the samer place for restitution seriously?
it's simple orleans boat world sucks....... ran it for 30 minutes out back (what a bunch of BS and when im looking for a boat in the spring they wont be on my list of places to look.

well its stuff like this that destroys the chance of repeat business for sure. and word of mouth is the best way for news to get around. A novice back yard mechanic should have been able to change the belt in his sleep. even easier for an engineer, don't you think.fishin mission wrote:thats moonshine for you !!
