Mercury Ignition Switch

Post by Flipper »

My ignition switch for my merc is starting to go wonky. The starter position only works if it's wiggled really hard and in a difficult way. Got caught out in the storm yesterday friggin around with it.
Is this something I can clean or should I just buy a new switch?
It's 12 years old and gets used a fair bit.
Thanks in advance,
Marc

If you are certain that it is the switch... and a new one is not too much $... get er done!

Otherwise if you have the time and inclination... take apart the switch and try to rebuild it.

Even if you do replace it... take the old one apart and see if you can rebuild it, that way you have a replacement ready.

If you are lucky, you might have to only redo the connections.

Good luck!
