While I was in Ottawa this summer my Aunt gave me this reel. It was my Grandfather's reel.
So I brought it home and tried to find as much information on it that I could find. I've searched the net numerous times with nothing coming up on it.
My Uncles remember using it back in the 50's-60's. They remember fishing for brookies up in Mont Apica military base (near Chicoutimi).
Can you guys help me out??
Thanks!!

katch moore,
I recommend you contact Paul Richer at Float, Paddle & Fly. After I inherited 4 of my Dad's fly reels I took them by for Paul to look them over - he was able to tell me their complete history and how to best clean them up. I was quite impressed with his knowledge and willingness to help out.
Cheers,
Colin

Thanks Colin!
I'll try to contact them and send them some pictures.
I've been using it alot recently on Grayling up in the Rivers here. Now the real test will be on the Pink Salmon next week.
I'm heading off to the Island for a week of Salmon, Dollie, Cuttie and Rainbow fishing.
Again thanks Colin, I'll make sure to contact them....
Hey Joco have you ever seen this brand of Fly Reels???

Could it be a Martin?
There is a No.70 in there... but I don't think it looks quite right.
This one has the same Angler font:
It is an Angler Scout no 8-60 and the one to the right is supposed to be a 70.. the picture does not show up entirely for me.
And this ebay item claims (in German) to be an Angler No.70... looks nothing like the one you have, but perhaps it is just a different year?

Good luck. I know NOTHING about fly reels, but I like a good mystery!!!

Well I searched up Angler No.70 reel and still nothing came up.
The only thing is the picture of the reel on Ebay and that's it.
Maybe I should put a bid on it.....

It looks to me like the the manufacturer of The Scout No 8-60 is the same as the one that makes the No.70... see if there is more info about the 8-60?
