TRAK Kayaks

Post by northernfly »

Does anyone have any experience with these for fishing? A bit pricey but seems like an interesting concept.

It looks like Trailhead in Ottawa is a distributor.

Definitely an interesting boat if you're in the market for a packable expedition kayak. I think the traditional closed cockpit style would make fishing from it a little difficult though.

I've seen these (or a similar kind) in an outdoors store here in Yokohama. I don't recall the cost which leads me to believe it wasn't out of the ordinary for a yak. The frame appears light but sturdy and it looks like a normal yak once assembled.

The pack is rather bulky, more suited to throwing in the back of a van or a pick-up....not sure it would fit in the trunk of your car. I agree with Todd, the closed style might make it a bit awkward to jump out occasionally to do some wading.
Time's fun when you're having flies.

it those look like a great kayak..great quality.

but pricey..my 2 cents.

if you look into that link.

the 1600 models would be like 4000$...a good amounth off $$$$..

but qualily is there.

but if somebody is looking for a fishing kayak.

better go see gwright(Float, Paddle and Fly ) and will get something that will be a bit better for fishing and for that price you can get a couple off them. all rig up to.

The portability intrigued me. However they are expensive so probably not in the budget.
