I have tomorrow off (I work compressed work weeks), and am looking to get out somewhere bright and early (6am'ish).

I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations (can be wading or float tubing).

I'm running a floating line currently (for the rest of this season actually) so I don't know if the Trout in Calabogie are holding at a depth attainable yet as we've had some warm days this week so I don't believe the water to be cold enough yet (Todd I do have your recommendation in my PM inbox, TY).

So if Trout are not an option, and beeing new to the area, I'd like to get into some pike possibly. Beeing new to the area I was wondering where some of you might go if you had this same opportunity I do.

Right now I've been considering the madawaska (sp?), which I think is what run parallel to Calabogie road.

Anyways, any insight or comments are as always greatly appreciated.

Pike were going mad on Saturday on the Rideau river at the Ketchall. Thats between Burrits Rapids and the 416 bridge. I was taken out by Fishtracks and we were muskie fishing but it was the day of the pike. I live in Orleans and usually fish the Ottawa so I really don't know where the launches are.

I believe there is a rudimentary launch at the end of Greenline Rd that is convenient for tubers.

It's actually a very good launch for tubes and for other boats.

I figured I would give this a follow up.

Friday I ended up going to the Greenline Rd launch. I fished for roughly 2 hours with only a few hits on the fly, but nothing spectacular.

While out there I had an epiphany...

Float Tubing isn't for me.

Having fished from a canoe most of my life and some kayak work as well, I just can't seem to come around to a float tube. It's just not for me.

I think I'll save up some coin and eventually get a roof rack and a kayak. Ultimately I'd like a canoe eventually, but I want something that isn't a hassle to put on the roof of my car and can still get me into remote areas.

So I'm going to sell the tube and fins once I can get some pictures of the gear.
