As many of you already know, the Champlain Run Trout Club annually stocks several thousand brown trout in the Ottawa River with a view to enhancing the angling opportunities in the National Capital. The Club is continuing the stocking efforts originally undertaken by the Québec government during the 1980’s & 90’s. Several Fish-Hawk members are Club supporters and have enjoyed helping out during the stocking weekend. The stocking event is great fun, especially for the children.

This year will be particularly challenging for the Champlain Run Trout Club. Domtar, a major financial supporter of the Club, cannot contribute financially this year due to the closing of their factories in the National Capital. As such, the Champlain Run Trout Club is appealing to all anglers to get involved.

For a minimum contribution of $25 you can personally participate in the brown trout stocking program’s annual release in late June. You can also take advantage of the Adopt A Trout program by contributing $30. With the Adopt A Trout program, you get to release a trophy brown trout of your very own and receive a photo of you releasing it!
