This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

canoe fishing

Post by Chuckles »

I don't mind fishing in a canoe (don't have a choice right now :? ) but I would rather be fishing in a boat where it's easier to stand and fish with others. I can stand by myself in the canoe and fish, but two?? a little tricky.

Fishing from a kayak? That sounds interesting.

I don't mind fishing from a canoe, but I would be way to paranoid about tiping it and losing all my gear. If I ever hooked into a big muskie or pike while in a canoe, I would definetly be going in the water!

Joco,
I've been kayak fishing for years, and it opens up all kinds of water right here in Ottawa that no one else can get to. Yak fishing can be relaxing and lazy, or it can be hair-raising and exciting, depending on where you go and how you approach it. It is definitely the most fun I've had with a fishing rod in my hand. Here's a really good website with a lot of very good information about yak fishing in rivers: www.riversmallies.com

Snag

Here's kingmann and a 42 inch Muskie caught in the Red Rocket.

No problems if you are with someone who is experienced and does actualy make the playing field feel a little more even.

Notice something? Kingmann is an experienced canoe fisher and if you look carefully you'll see that he is kneeling thus lowering his centre of gravity and by doing this you cannot tip a canoe.

Ive never fished out of a canoe or kayack , Except for one time i was in a creek at my cottage and there was only about half a foot of water, so i paddle in with my canoe and a fish bolts right under the shoreline bank, so i stick my fishing net under and i then draged out a 4 pound carp :D

Mr. J that's quite the picture!!! I love how clear and calm the water is. Hooking on to that muskie must have been quite the experience! :D

Well snag that's kingmann who got it, but I will tell you how I felt. A few weeks earlier another buddie of mine hooked one about the same size in the Red Rocket and we ended up loosing it because the net was not big enough.

So when kingmann hooked this guy that last moment was running thru my head so as excited as kingamann was to catch it I was as excited to be able to net it.
