I just finished reading an artical about Muskie Fishing In the March Issue of "Ontario Out Of Doors" rag. The artical mentions a bait buy the name of a "Skinner" My question is, has anybody ever used this bait, and in which manner was it presented.

My reason for asking is that I love trying new baits, and since season is just around the corner, well you can guess the rest. I would also like to know what color patterns it's available in, and what size is it.

I have caught and released a lot of lunge on the pearch colored Swim Whiz in the 6" lenght along with the Strawberry & Chartruce patterns both fixed bodies and the Double Jointed kind. All are great producers once your trolling speed has been astablished. I've trolled these just behind the tail end of the prop wash and have connected.

Funny story here; I reeled in my last cast and had just finished washing this prize lure, I left the lure sitting in the water at cunnel's edge paying no mind to what's going on down below, digging through the old Palano looking for something new to tie on and WHAMO! Crapped my pants collected my sense' but buy then its to late. That's how I found out the meaning of Fair Game If only I had a video of that. Oh yeah.. back on topic once again here... Got side tracked

I've used Big Spinners like the Black and Red Musky Killer with the big gold blade and the 10" Double Jointed Beleiver right down to the Suick Stick to the big old Grandmaw Lure's.

If anybody knows where I might get one of these little beautys and the cost for such said bait in question, Please sing out. I just know I'm sitting in the right church, But don't want to be sitting in the wrong Pew

John F, the tackle box in Orillia had some nice baits last time I was there. I have only caught my Muskies on spooks....so I could'nt tell ya. There are lots of musky buffs on the board and one of them will be able to help you out.

Do a search for pro tackle musky shop he has a large selection of mail order musky baits.

You can also try fishing depot, they have a huge selection of new musky baits. The musky Odyssey http://www.muskiescanada.ca/Odyssey.php is in about 3 weeks and there should be lots of good lures from store like Pro Tackle and Fishing Depot. You may also want to check out rollie and hellens or Bass Pro Shops online in the US if you don't mind mail order..

By the way...Whats wrong with a good old suick?? I put a nice 52" and a number of mid 40" musky in the boat last year on a suick.. Lots of pike and walleye to..

Have you treid a sledge jerk bait yet. They'll work great on kawartha musky. get the 9" one.

I'm not sure if this is the bait you read about, but G.M. Skinner was a pioneer in the lure business, starting producing spoons and spinners as early as 1865.

Since his company was based in Gananoque, near where I live, I have done a lot of research on the man and his products.

The Skinner "spoons" (we'd call them in-line spinners today) are still being produced by Arthur Freer (or were as at 1979).

The musky version sported a 7/0 or 8/0 , usually with feathers and a large Indiana blade or Indiana/Willowleaf cross, sometimes fluted.
