How much should a fishing charter cost?

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

How much would you be willing to pay for a fishing charter for big game fish on the great lakes for 6-8hrs?

i would say 1-3 clients in the boat, with all top of the line gear, in mint condition and more tackle and lures than you know what to do with

the gear on the boat will be

4 Big Jon Electric Captains Pack Downriggers
1 Big Jon Dual Planer Mast
12 Rod Holders
Garmin Fishfinder
Garmin GPS
Sub Troll 900 Temperature / Speed probe
Uniden VHF
14 rod/reel level wind combos

Hoover if I'm gettin in your boat you better pay me about $500!

You know i'm JK!! I'd pay about $100 for a good charter. I've seen some charge four times that for a day trip.

Never been on a charter, but assuming there wasn't too many people on the boat and the equipment was up to date, I'd say $100 for a day was money well spent.

I think charter rates are about $60 a head based on 4 people for a 7am to 1pm run. $100 a person for 8 hours is most likely a fair price. You should shop around and check with other charters. Half day vs full day rates.

I think a 100$ for an 8 hour trip is reasonnable but that would be based on 4 people.

Like Salmon said check around to see what others are c harging because I'd imagine it's even more than that...

$100.00 apiece with 4 clients is pretty good price for what is offered.

thanx for all the advice and ideas i checked it out and 100.00 per person is pretty fair, especially if i will only take 3 clients that leaves tonnes of room and more action on the poles!

Just had a little chat with Hoover and came up with the perfect name for his new business.
For those of you who remember when Hoover first joined FH, I believe one of his first post was something about "fishermen, bring me your daughters" (which coincidentally did not score big points with many fathers  ).

So, here it is ...

Bring me your daughters fishing charters

Got kind of a catchy little rhyme to it. Best of luck Geoff. :D :D :D

(p.s. I'll be leaving Cassie at home thank you) :P

Hoover make sure you have all the proper licensing required before you decide to do this. Just thought I'd give a heads up, but I'm sure you've got it under control.
