One of those days......
Well it started off bad enough, then ended horribly. SO I meet up with Tony at Taylor Park at 10:00 am as agreed. Try turning the mtoor over, I'm aware of my fuel line issue, slight air leak. That however turns out to be the "easiest" issue of the day to deal with.
Try cranking the motor..no go, between the cold and no doubt an old or uncharged battery, it wouldn't turn over. Tried a second battery just in case, still no go
OK, so I head to the "local" Marina, that visit still HURTS !. Which is their real name they just mis-placed a consonant
Well we get the boat going, thanks to an over priced battery but hey, I promised Tony a days fishing, damned if I wasn't gonna get out there. Well after 4 hours of no hits, snow and wind that would freeze the kohonas off a polar bear, we decided to pack it in.
Now we had been drifting for a good part of the day. So I'm not paying attention to where we are in fact, I'd just looked at the fish finder and saw 5.3 ft, figured we better hi tail it outta there. The mistake I made was not noticing a red buoy off to one side.
Away we go, for about 30 seconds then, crunch, grind...Shiiiiiiiiiii?....what the *%#@*&% was that. Well let's just say I've never seen a prop so badly chewed up, literally. All 3 fins lost at least an inch. Somewhere in all this I sheared my shear pin too.
We were able to putter slowly about 2/3rds of the way back before it just wouldn't push us anymore. We had to paddle. Did some minor damage from the looks of things to the keel too.! Time will tell.
What a Freeeeeeeeeeakin' day
On top of this NO FISH
Tony, you were a pleasure to fish with. Next time, we go to my neck of the woods
The bill awaits me...Oh Boy

WIG I'm SOOOOOO SORRY Man. Let me be the first, or second to say that your day just sucked the alamo.
I can't believe you didn't catch any fish.
Okay I'll stop being silly, but WIG
A: you still got Tony out there.
B: you made it home safe.
C: you did the damage at the best time of year to be doing the damage.
still all I can say is sorry about your lousy luck this time.

Actually, just had dinner right after I posted this. Explained it all to the Mrs which was quickly followed by "Well it's in no shape to go to Quinte".Markus wrote:WIG! Cripes!
I know we all have those days, but wow....that takes the cake for the worst I've heard. wow.
And to top it off your rowing partner only has one good shoulder!
Have you looked your wife in the eye yet?
To which I replied..I still have tomorrow to get it ready

Sorry to hear about the problems in the new ride Nothing worse than getting a new toy and damaging it in the first few weeks. I did it to my Mustang Convertible last year the 2nd week I had it and went over a curb and put a nice long gouge in the side skirt. Hope you can make to Quinte still.
cheers
Ken

Son of a.....!!!! What a day, I hope your lower unit damage is mostly prop. Damaged keels can be lived with for the most part. Do you think you hit rock or just sheared the blades through the sand?
I quess you guys should have hit the Ottawa, water levels up and the water was dead calm today. Oh well, at least you got some exercise.
