Day Time Fishing from Shore

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Day Time Fishing from Shore

Post by cheftke »

Is it worth while trying fishing during the middle of the day from shore along some of the city spots; Long Island, Black Rapids, Petrie. Or is it just worth while waiting to fish during the night and early morning

If the smallmouth bite is on you can pretty much catch them all day, however dawn and dusk is still the best time for pike and walleye. 6pm-7pm have been my best times for pike/walleye.

I agree with ToddB here. If you are after smallmouth I think you would be able to get some bites regardless of the time. I used to fish the Ottawa river around Lemieux Island filtration plant during the daytime and always found a few smallies willing to bite a tube. Walleye though definately prefer the lower light levels.
