alternative to Navionics app

Until this year, I have used the Navionics app while fishing in the Ottawa Valley. It was never really necessary but I always felt it was worth the subscription cost. But this year, the subscription has increased to the point where I won't pay it. $80US is too much for me.

Is there another option for tracking my fishing routes through the various islands on our lakes and rivers?

you can use an older sonar unit with GPS to track your location.. I use various lowrance units (elite series mostly) and have old navionics cards that i rotate through to check what has the best maps/charts for the spot i'm in.

I take it you are using navionics app with your phone?

In response to your question, I was using the Navionics app on my smart phone. I don't have any older sonar units or cards so I don't think the rest of your comments apply to me. (But then again, I'm not really sure what I'm talking about here).

Can you not use the free Navionics, that's all I use on my PC.

A veteran in marine cartography, C-MAP’s Embark app offers high-resolution charts and a simple interface, making it a strong Navionics competitor for Azorean waters.

I was pretty sure that Navionics got rid of their free chart viewer?

It certainly has changed since I first downloaded it as it now defaults to garmin and Lebanon Ks but it still works on my pc.

I also thought the free Navionics chart viewer was discontinued, but good to know it still works for some. I’ve been testing both C-MAP’s Embark and Garmin’s Marine Chart Viewer — Embark looks a bit more modern, but Garmin’s still holds up. Anyone know how often Embark updates its Azores region charts?
