Hi Folks,
Has anyone been out lately on Bark Lake ice fishing? I usually don't go until March, but this year I have heard nothing about the ice conditions.

I am talking about Bark lake just south of Hwy 60 to the south of Madawaska. I know the ice can fluctuate, because of the controlled water levels , but looking to go this week. I fish near Hay Bay on Bark Lake.
Thank you

Really used to enjoy our March long weekends up at Bark Lake. The lake is late to freeze up but as you know March is usually the best ice. We used to fish out of Sunnyhill mostly, that's where I first learned how to use an actual real tip-up for Whities where the bait rests on the bottom with the tipup pointing slightly down so it tips up when a fish takes the bait. We also stayed at High Country Snoasis for a couple of years when it first opened and fished "The Piers" when we were there as Ken had his shacks there. Have you heard about that area of the lake? That was crazy Laker and Whitefish fishing in clear shallow moving water as the smelt prepare for their spring runs that would take them right into Hay Bay and up the narrows.
Back to your question, I would suggest contacting Sunnyhill. With the lousy ice everywhere this season I don't know if they even put there shacks out this year, normal years it's mid Jan at the earliest. https://www.sunnyhill.com/

Cheers
