Went out for a fish from the Blair road boat launch on the Ottawa river. Nice this time of the year not many other boaters there.

To sum up fishing was slow, wasn’t marking much, wasn’t getting many bites. But I took some nice pictures

Finally I find some promising marks.

I make my first pass trolling a bright coloured reef runner crank bait. Bam big bite but it pops off right away. So I go back over again another big bite but it pops off. Couple passes later I hook one and it stays on.

And it’s a friggin gar. I mean still put up a really good fight. I trolled it a couple more times and I start to see gar jumping out of the water so decided that it must be a giant school of gar. Cool but not what I want.

I searched for fish at all depths with no luck. If anyone’s got tips for musky or walleye in that area I’d love to hear them.

Nice Gar !
Can't help you much with the river...I don't get out on the Ottawa very often. On the inland lakes, the Walleye have moved deeper. With the water temps in the low 50's, we should see the autumn turnover any day now.
