Went out on the big Rideau Sunday morning. Fished from 6-12 and put lots of fish topside.

I jigged all morning. Using my fish Finder I look for schools of trout 3 or more. Then I drop down a fast sinking bait and watch the screen for them too come up as soon as they come towards my bait I start reeling up until they smack it.

Water temp was about 62F. I fished from 100-60ft. The bait of the day was a acme hyper rattle one of my favourite to use because they fall so fast.

Love getting them on a jig with light tackle. Downriggers, leadcore, dipseys, flashers, cowbells, etc and all the hardware when trolling takes the fight out of them.

Sounds like it was video game fishing, watching them on the screen...very nice !

Awesome day chasing Greasers!

What Garmin unit is that? I am looking at upgrading my units and didnt want to loose the RTS window on my HB and everyone I have spoken with about Garmins said there wasn't one. Yet there it is on the RH side of your screen!

It’s a Garmin echomap 73sv. I’ve had it for about 2 years now and would recommend it to anyone. You have to go into setting and turn on “A-scope”. My Garmin striker 4 had it as well.

My favourite way to target them. I find a catch wayyy more jiggin as well. I’m still a rookie when it comes to trolling.

Thanks for taking the time to confirm! It was one of my favorite options on the Humminbirds. Glad to see the Garmin has it as well!

Tried Charleston tonight.

Went to a bunch of the “usual” spots and it was a ghost town. Obviously I’m not looking it the right spots for this time of year.

Hmmmmm.

Was planning to target Walleyes this weekend but the cold front had them in a really negative mood...caught a few cigars below the slot, and even they were sniffing the bait rather than eating it. Water temp had dropped to 64F from 68f a few days ago. Mayfly hatch didn't help either. Fooled around with some hammer-handle size Snot Rockets in the back bays but nothing decent there either.

My lake is one of the few in the area that has both Walleyes and Lake Trout. Motivated by Chasenic's post...I dug out a 1oz. purple Hyper Rattle (which I have only used before during hard water season). Marked some fish down 70 ft....and bingo got one on the first drop. Managed a few more and then the wind picked up to the point where I couldn't hover with spot lock any more (battery was low). I guess when the fish are 70ft down they're somewhat immune from cold fronts...Thanks for the inspiration Chasenic !
