Hey fellow hawkers,

I have not seen any recent posts about Muskrat Lake. Does anyone have recent reports. Looking to get out next weekend.

We drove by Muskrat Lake this afternoon, Sunday January 10th.... open water as far as the eye can see, counted 7 boats on the lake.

Just kidding, I have no idea of the actual conditions of the ice but there were lots on people on the ice fishing today, the vast majority walked out, but a few ATVs on the ice. I am not saying the ice is safe, just a bunch of people out on it.

I was out on Muskrat today.
The upper end of the lake (past Cobden) is mostly open water. At least half the lake, if not more, is open water.
We fished at Lily Bay. Ice depth was between 4 and 7.5 inches and I drilled close to 20 holes.
Quite a few permanent huts out there out in the deeper water. I'm guessing chasing lakers. Saw 1 lad land a nice pike in about 60 ft of water (I checked the depth in his hole after he left)
We were chasing perch and nothing but little ones in this area. We fished from 6 ft to 17 ft in the bay and moved all over it and nothing but wee ones.
Beautiful day and worth the trip, fish or not!
