Any tips for beginners?

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Any tips for beginners?

Post by Wrecker_Decker »

Hello everyone. I'm from the Ottawa area and I'm planning on starting to go fishing more during the summer. I have few experience fishing and I was wondering what are some good fishing spots in Ottawa. Also, what are some tips that you would give a beginner?

Also, I was wondering what bait is the best to fish with. Such as fishing with live bait like worms or small fish, or using lures?

Thank you :)

It all depends on what you are fishing for.

My kids fish with worms or minnows for panfish. We use imitation plastic for bass as well as a lot of lures.

Start with a Senko, tube and maybe a spinnerbait. Colours I like are white and green pumpkin.

I second the senko to start. Texas Rig for grass, lay downs etc, and wacky for more open water.

Worm on a bobber or worm on the bottom are the easiest ways to get into fish.

Other suggestions are good but will not get you on fish right away.
