Hey Gang,

Looking to go try my luck at fishing Palmerston Lake with a buddy in a couple of weeks. Looking to fish Small and large mouth, pike, walleye and maybe some rainbow if there is any in the lake. Anyone have any insight into places on the lake to fish, techniques and anything to watch for. We are looking maybe next year to book a place to stay on the lake for a weekend of fishing and wanted to scope out the lake to see if it is worth the weekend trip.

Pretty sure it's just bass and lake trout. Bass fishing might be okay but lake trout would be super slow. Unless you have some motivating factor to fish it I would not waste my time.

No Walleye in there, but plenty of Bass & Lakers.
We spent last Labour Day weekend up there (2015),
and although I don't have the gear or patience to
fish Lakers we would see the regulars early each morning
and early each evening fishing a long deep shoal and saw
them land a few over the 4 days.
We concentrated on Bass, rocky shoals for Smallies, in
the slop for Largies, and we had a riot. Caught a few in
the 3 to 4 lb. range and lots of smaller ones. We fished
mostly in the east end of the lake since we stayed at
Young's Cottages. Awesome place, and a great time fishing!!

Lakers are now closed, probably some cold weather will turn on the smallies, east end of the lake might make some Largies turn up .... Very clear water

Looks promising for smallies as that's what I love to fish for. If it's clear and lots of rock and structure it should be fun. Where in the east of the lake should I try? Is there any rock humps or areas I should be careful that won't take my lower unit off? The launch is on the north end of the lake so is there any spots there to fish? Looks like a creek feeds it there so I was thinking that might good?

Looking to try a day trip there soon and might get lucky and catch a few, will report back.

If you're talking about the public launch, I believe what you call the 'north' end
of the lake would be the same as what we're referring to as the 'east' end, never
really pulled out the compass! LOL
That 'creek' actually flows into Canonto, but I digress. Be careful going
from the launch out to where the lake opens up, but the water is SO clear you
should be able to see all the shallow spots. There are MANY islands and most
have rocky shoals coming off them, usually could pick a few Smallies off almost
any of those. ENJOY!!
