On one side it had a flat area that was around 30 feet deep and when I saw this I knew it was gonna be good...

I figured that this had to be an opportunity to try vertical jigging, but there were sunfish and bass near the surface that would hammer my lure as soon as it hit the water, I literally couldn't get more than 2-3 feet down before I had an unwanted fish.
So i changed it up, grabbed my ICE FISHING kit and selected my heaviest puppet minnow and sent it screaming to the bottom. What followed was about half an hour of the best CRAPPIE fishing I have ever had with every single fishing measuring around 13 to 13.5 inches, all cookie cutters except one that topped 14 inches. Certainly most fish beat my previous personal best of 13.0 inches.
All fish went back into the water for another day.
While I was really hoping these were going to be trout that had come up from the depths to feed, it was still a great experience.
