anyone fish these lakes b4? Goin camping and planning to check out these lakes with the canoe. Otty lake looks kinda big on the map, but there may be some small bays I can hide in without waves crashing in my boat. Where would I park, launch/throw in my canoe? I'm also going 2 long lake again. Thats a nice little spot too. I'll let you guys know how it goes.

Howdy,
I have only fished Black Lake. The fishing is GREAT there if the fish are bittin' If the water is high, fish the weed beds at each end of the lake....topwater for Largemouth. The middle of the lake to troll for Pickeral...again if they are bittin. Your best bet is to hit the shoreline for bass. It is deep and you could be in 25feet 10 feet from shore. Use Stick bait..bounce off the bottom..we hit some real nice bass that way!
Hope it helps
Cheers'

Average Angler:

Where's the boat launch for Black Lake?? That's the Black Lake near Perth right?
I've been wanting to fish that lake for a long time, and have been told that it is surrounded by private land, and no public access.
Sure would appreciate any info you would share on this.

Hi Moosebunk
Thats a pretty nice launch at Long Lake eh?? Did you have any trouble backing the boat in??
Gotta be one of my favourite launches for boat and trailer.

never fished any of those but I know the tay river runs out of christie lake and goes close to the lakes you mentioned. The tay river is really clear and has a extremely large population of sm bass as well as some lm.

If you are talking about Black lake in Sharbout lake there is a Provincial campground there. If not check to see if the lake has been stocked by the MNR reciently. I believe I read something about you are allowed access to lakes surronded by private land if the MNR has stocked it. Might be worth checking into?

Basstalker:
Thanks for the info. I didn't know that.
Going to give those little devils (MNR) a call and see if Black Lake has ever been stocked.
Do you get a choice about whose cottage property you drive through, or does the MNR have to provide a launch?
This could get exciting.

Hi Seabass:
Many years ago we fished the Tay between Perth and Bevridges Locks. Caught some pickerel, pike, and LM.
Never have fished from Christie down, but it sounds like it would be a good canoe/flyrod adventure if there are smallies.
Would be handy if there were two vehicles. Drop off a car at the bottom and launch two canoes near the lake......Just hope no one is around playin banjo...........shades of Deliverance!!

Jigs, I am not sure. I know I read it on one of the stocking lists that I HAD. I will try to dig it up and let you know.
Good luck on the hunt
