The deep end of Loughborough is likely open now. The weather is much warmer and usually has open water rather early. It never really freezes that thick to begin with. However, I haven't been up there so I can't say for sure.

From past experience Silver will be frozen for another 2-3 weeks. A few years ago it was frozen right into the first week of May!

It is open around the shoreline, but the ice gets really thick in the center of the lake and with lack of significant current it takes a very long time to melt. Kinda frustrating since you can't ice-fish, and you can't boat-fish either!

What we all need is the Ice Fishing hover-hut for this time of year. 60K is a little steep: http://barrie.ctvnews.ca/ice-fishing-ho ... -1.2197926

Silver opened up Saturday mostly. I drove by in the am and there was still a layer of ice but the wind broke it up by 6 pm. There was still a portion of the west end covered but most of the lake was free of ice.

Once it starts to go, it may only take a few hours with a good wind.
