Shore fishing in the Kemptville Area

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Shore fishing in the Kemptville Area

Post by Cain »

I moved to Kemptville a few years ago but have only recently gotten back in to fishing. Unfortunately, I'm stuck to the shore and haven't had much success. I primarily target bass, but I've only managed to catch a couple of small pike. At this point, I don't care what I catch as long as I catch something other than bluegills. I've tied spinners, spoons, jigs, plastics, top waters etc, but I don't seem to have much luck. My kids are pulling in small bluegills and perch like crazy with worms, but that doesn't really interest me. Here's the spots I've tried:

1. Lock 17 at Burrits Rapids
2. Top of the dam just west of Burrits Rapids
3. Small creek off River road, just before Acton's Corners (got the pike here)
4. Bridge at 44 and River Road

A few other places I've considered are:

1. Boat launch off Reevecraig and Greenline road
2. Northern bridge at Burrits Rapids. Looks like I can wade to the little "island" and fish off that into the middle of the channel.

If anyone has any suggestions or tips, it would be much appreciated. Thanks.

You could try the 416 bridge. Access off of Reeve Craig North.

The 44 bridge and the ramp at reeve Craig always have people fishing it. I think those are your two best bets. Seen a few people under the 416 bridge as well but not nearly as many.

Thanks for the feedback. I think I'll give the bridge at the 44 another shot in the morning. I assume I'd want to target small mouth, walleye and possibly pike there? I only fished there once and nobody that was there caught anything.
