help! I need to get a 2 piece rod apart

A couple of weeks back I lent my brother my fishing gear. Amongst many other problems that resulted from that, he put together the top half of one rod on the bottom half of a different rod and I cannot get them apart. I have tried WD40, no go there. Anyone got any ideas? If worse comes to worse, I am going to break the top piece as it is the bottom piece that I need to salvage.

Mick, put the rod behind your legs (knees) and hold each section with each hand. If you can picture my description at all, you will be able to use your legs as leverage to pull the two sections apart.

Mick,
I agree w/ Jazman. Give the rod a nice, hot bath. Hey, it loosens me up! Seriously, it might expand the base piece enough to pull them apart.
When you used the WD, were you able to get any into the crack between the 2 pcs? Probably wedged in there good, thx to your bro, hmm? Maybe try some vaseline on a Q-tip and just roll it with pressure around the 2 pcs to try to force some, even if only a bit, into the crack. Then wiggle/twist it and hope for the best.
One more bit of advice: don't loan your gear to your brother next time around!
Good luck!
W.

Going with jazman's idea, find a non flammable blanket or something, wrap wround the meeting area of the mismatched rod. Then use a heat gun to heat the area until you're able to slide the two pieces apart. I got the idea from putting a new blade in my little brother's hockey stick.

Try a little liquid soap or some dish detergent in there, but if you can warm the bottom section, and get something slippery in there, it should pop free.

Thanks for all the advice, she is going in the bathtub this evening. As for those suggesting not to lend the stuff to my brother, that is a given. The rod hopefully is salvageable, which is more than can be said for the reel and the transducer on my FF.

ouch
No transducer and a blown reel...? That hurts.
