Sharpen Jiffy blades?

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Sharpen Jiffy blades?

Post by Happy Hooker »

Is there a place around Ottawa that can sharpen blades for a Jiffy Ice auger,
I have a 9" blade and have to order from Jiffy, stores only carry 6,8, and 10.
At $39.00 a pop I am sure it would cheaper to get them sharpened.

I have sharpened mine with a fine file and finished it off with speedy sharp... I was desperate. Turns out they cut better after my sharpening job then they did before and they stayed sharp longer.... it's like comparing the edge of a bic blade fresh out of the box to a barbershop razor blade....The edge was thicker and just as sharp after I sharpened it I think... If you are good with knife blades and you already have the tools, give it a go!
This year I spent most of my money on beer, women and fishing...the rest I wasted.

Stay true to the edge, if i remember right, i used the speedy sharp alot more on angled side of blade... My normark blades are flat on one side...

i use a chainsaw file set for mine.

just keep the angles the same and make sure you do the guide point as well.

i do a 10 minute job on my strikemaster at the start of each season and it stays sharp right till the end.
