Wondering ifa nyone has had any stories or advice for me. I broke the top 4 inches off my shimano rod (Magnum lite graphite - bought it 15 years ago). It was a good rod and a shame to toss it out. I had it repaired but its just not thesame. I e-mailed shimano, what are my chances of this scenario coming out godd? Or an i just resigned to purchase a new rod and say goodbye to old faithful.

My advice is wait for a reply from shimano, thier service is second to none and may be able to offer a alternative solution. If not and the rod is repaired, dont toss er out but if you feel the need to buy a new one keep ol faithful around for a back up,you never know when she could prove to be the day saver

The old magnumlites were great rods, especially the speedmaster versions. Many of those rods have become very scarce and command top prices in good condition- $100.US and up.
Four inches is likely too much to lose without affecting the feel and balance of the rod, though.
What is the exact model number of the rod? I might have one kicking around.
Shimano really can't be expected to come up with anything for you on a broken 15 year old rod. If they do, it would be the ULTIMATE in customer service.
As FF said, keep it for a backup.
