Lake Clear ( Eganville )

Hey Gents, I am planning on going to Lake Clear this weekend, Does anyone know how the walleye are bitting so far this year and are they in the usual spots

Sorry pikeman, wish I could help, but in three trips to Lake Clear so far this season we've sure not set the world on fire...am considering an evening/night fish on the shallow side in the next couple weeks.

Hi pikeman.
I was up this past week and the regular bite is on. We were marking them in 30-50 of water and they were at various depths, mostly at 12-20 feet depth. I've only had luck at night on this lake, but others seem to be able to catch them during the day.

Thanks for the info Brian !!! Where were you marking them if I can ask. I usually fish just to the right of the boat launch at Opeongo mountain resort .

Usually, if you go straight out from the boat launch at the campground, you hit a weedy drop off at around 12 feet of water. Troll back and forth along that drop off. I like to use a crankbait that goes around 4-6 feet down, usually in a perch or a crawdad colour.

Lots of people go further out during the day, still straight out from the launch, to about 30-45 feet of water and jig for them. You'll see them on the fish finders.

Last week, we had more luck trolling the left side of the lake (the north side???) along the shoreline, from about the 1st island (Cherry island) to the largest island (Turner island), in about 15-25 feet of water.

Just remember that Lake Clear is in zone 15 and has a slot (walleyes must be 19.7" or greater to be kept, only 1 for conservation licenses, 2 for sport fishing licenses).

Awesome. We usually use a bottom bouncer in 20-25 feet . I will be sure to try those other spots .
