With Bass season so close....a Poll

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

With Bass season so close....a Poll

Post by BobbyJordan »

I'm sure I am not the only one counting down the days. I know I will be fishing the Shootout on St. Lawrence for opening day, but given the choice where's your favourite place to fish for Bass?

Just love hammering the smallies on Big Rideau.
We've never been on the St-Lawrence but heard it's one hell of a Largie cesspool!

Maverick - if you like catching smallies on Big Rideau - you NEED to get out on the St. Lawrence River! There is nothing like fighting those giant brown bass in the fast current. Man do they ever pull. A few years back I had no idea how to fish the river. I put in some time to figure it out a little and it is now my favourite place to fish for both numbers and definitely size! Fish over 5 pounds are quite common, and guys are catching them over 6 and 7 pounds.

I fish the Rideau quite a bit because it is close to my house. I only responded the way I did because I know the river so well.

I have a family cottage on St. Francis and absolutely need to put some time in on that body of water but for some reaosn I tend to only target perch (It's in Lancaster...)

At least the kids enjoy fishing with me instead of watching me try and figure out where to fish. Once I have the time to get out there myself and really hammer down on the areas that should produce some nice fish, I am sure I will have a blast.

Muskrat.

I like how (at least for me) if largies on one side aren't co-operating the smallies on the other side are (or vice versa).
Some big bass.

I also like Silver, Dalhousie, and Stump.

I'm curious to see all the "other" lakes. One of the things I love about this part of the province is there are so many great fiashing opportunities close to home. Lots I have never even heard of....like stump lake! Where is that Jimmy?

The Rideau river I always have good luck there maybe not for size but I always catch some bass in that river. But for big smally I really like the St Lawrence including lake St Francis. I cant wait for the bass season to open.

Bobby,

Its up by my hunt camp.

Never more than 1-3 boats on it at a time.

Lots of weeds, mats and pads.

Its a #s lake with quite a few big ones.

If you want send me a PM and I can give you exact location.

Ottawa River has it all. #'s, giants and water that see's one using a different approach on almost every corner, bay and pocket. We really are fortunate to have this mighty river a stones throw away!

I fish out of a kayak now and recently moved near the Mississippi river. I am pretty sure those bodies of water you mentioned are large and too busy for my kayak. But I used to catch smallmouth in the Ottawa river and I love Centennial lake.
