Water levels in Dow's Lake

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Water levels in Dow's Lake

Post by serrouljm »

Hi All,
My girls, god bless 'em, are hankering for some fishing, like their dad, and a quick trip to Dow's Lake would suit the busy spring schedules. Once swimming lessons, guides, etc die down we can get some real trips in.
Anyone know the schedule for when they let the lake be a lake again?? Or, if not a schedule, then the conditions under which they refill? Getting antsy...

I saw them removing the shacks along the canal last week so it should be any day now. I noticed Mooney's Bay is really low too so I'm not sure if they get that back up to level first.

I suggest you stay far from the falls its running way too fast and a guy drowned there last week and the water is ugly and high and muddy.

As for Dow's lake and the canal the boating season starts may 15th so i assume they will be filling it this weekend.

The falls are not running nearly as violently as when that man drown over two weeks ago. The falls were wide open then but not now. Still dangerous though.
Pretty sure below the falls, levels are pretty normal now.

From my Office, I can see the water level has risen to its full level.

Good fishing guys. Oh Yeah! Don't forget the kids.

So if I pack up the family tonight and head to the canal by the Rideau Center it will be at full level?

I just drove by 2 minutes ago and the water is back although it isn't completely full just yet, but close enough. Perhaps its filling up as we speak. Definitely fishable though.

Alls I am saying is that to pack all the gear and people.
Head down to my spot.

Walk a few blocks.
