Well I will finally be getting out to Shirleys Bay tomorrow evening and I was curious with the current out there what weight people use and what distance from the bottom works best out there.

I have glow in the dark jig heads and I will be trying for ling on bottom after dark, but last time we were out there we just did not seem to hit them when everyone else did.

We did have the typical walleye problem of sucking off the minnow without bouncing the spring bobber a few times but not a whole lot of luck.

if you stay back fom the point on the right side of the ramp there is minimal current.
the further past the point the stronger the current.
most of my rigs and lures stay right under me like mucho minnow tipped with a head. 12' of water and show up on the flasher.
ill be out the afer work tomorrow too.

Personally, I prefer the current areas out there. I use a two way spreader with my tip up and replace the hooks with snells.That way you have another minnow down there if you lose one to a fish. Plus they don't tend to get hooked on the ice like those pickerel rigs. I've always found for pickerel that you need to be within a few inches of bottom with your bait. if you're a foot up it's too high.
