Back from the Kawarthas....

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Back from the Kawarthas....

Post by RJ »

Hey Folks,

I'm back in town 3 days short of my weeks holidays musky fishing in the Kawarthas......got bad news last night of the passing of my grandmother...so we came home today... :(

We stayed on Sturgeon Lake...beautiful clear water....very busy lake on the weekends being so close to Toronto...very heavy populated shorelines as well...but not crazy like the Rideau...

We arrived Saturday night and pretty much didn't do a whole lot...Sunday was a day of relaxing...I fished for maybe an hour or so...nuttin'... :(

Headed out Monday and headed out on a exploring the water session....with the help of a few guys from this board with tips...we headed to an area that they said they had caught fish....we stayed about 20 minutes....I just couldn't believe the fish would be that shallow...we headed back out to the weed edge we were working earlier....still not a sniff...a guy drifted by us jigging for eyes....I asked him if he found the fishing slow...he said yes...PHEW!...we weren't the only ones....after seeing our baits he asked if I had been to Spot X.....it was the same spot we were just at... :? ...I said no....he assured me that was a good spot...we went home and pondered it all night...

Tuesday we headed for that spot and camped....it was windy....pouring rain....but there was fish in there...nice ones too... :D

Here's the Pics...

A nice Largie to start...

30 incher....

Back to Back 41 inchers..

I got another....a 36 incher....it had a big tumour on it... :x ..nasty!...so I didn't need a pic of that...

All fish were caught on Fudally Stump Hawgs...Black....water depth...3 feet or less....choked with weeds.....unbelievable to true!

I'd have loved to stay all week....I'm confident we would have got 20...

Next year!....I hope...

Sorry to hear about your loss RJ.

If you want to get back up there for a day or two in August, let me know. I will be going up there once or twice a week until the end of the month and would enjoy the company.

I'd love to get back up there for a few days in the early fall...hopefully the people I rented the cottage will offer it to me for a few days for free to make up for the days we lost...

Hey RJ,

Sorry to hear about the passing of your grandmother. I have a cottage on Sturgeon and would really like to know where spot X is. I have been there for 11 years and have yet to catch a muskie. I would like to show my 5 year old a muskie. Could you let me know, I would really appreciate it? Hey if you're up there again, drop by!
