Sure was a great few days on the ice. I will caution anyone who is thinking of going out this weekend take extreme caution. We found some ice, but there wasn't many places that we tried that had safe ice. I assure you what we were on was safe but we took all the necessary safety precautions before we went and and while we were on the ice to make sure we stayed topside.

More pics of our days on the ice are here: http://www.rjnbirdeesoutdooradventures.ca/?p=1341

Fun couple days and man it felt great to be back on ice!

Way to go Chevy. Nice fish. I'm not too jittery on thin ice but it doesn't look like you have much ice there at all, and those little dark pockets don't help the look.

Cheers

Well done! That ice looks too thin for my liking, but I'll give you the Wiser's slow-clap for getting out there and getting onto fish!

The pics are deceiving ice wise. What you can't see in the pics is the 3 inches of black ice under the white. Even those pics when I looked at em at home I told Chevy, "Umm. Don't show your Mom these."..

Safe and Sound with fish to boot!

Great pics, feel like I was there! That ice looks dicey, but I've looked back at some of my pics from first ice and seen that too...hard to see the good ice under the white stuff.

What'd she bite on?

Nice catch Chevy!

What kind of rod set-up were you using?
Was the bite light? or fast and aggressive?

I was ripping the bait pretty aggressive and she came and and shmucked it! Back at it tomorrow 8)
