Land O' Lakes Area

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Land O' Lakes Area

Post by samartel »

Hey all,

Was up in Sharbot this past weekend and got totally shut out. Besides that though, any of the other lakes in and around there have the same top water issue as Sharbot? There was a thin crust of about 1" of ice followed by about 6" of water then the standard 13" of ice. My feel were soaked and ruined what could have been a good day of fishing. Sad thing was, we had to fish where the crust was thick enough to support us, not necessarily fish where we wanted to, but fish where we could.

Would appreciate other tales of woe from around that area, jsut in case i venture back up there and try another lake.

Thanks

Same situation on BoB's lake on Friday as well. 7 of us fished for about 4 hrs at depths of 15 to 45 ft and got skunked.

Ive only fished sharbot twice once open water once hard water and got skunked both times, now that may just be a reflection of my angling abilities but I have not heard a lot of great trip reports from sharbot. If you are in this area there are better lakes IMO, two that I fish often and have had success are Loughborough for lake trout and Dog lake for Pike, Panfish, and Splake (havent got splake through the ice but have in open water)

I cottage up at Sharbot, and the fishing is decent depending on what you are looking for.

I might try Dog Lake though. Need a new haunt ;)

Thanks
