Thinking ahead, rod opinions wanted

Between hard-water trips it occurred to me i could "use" a new rod . . . for this summer, and I'm rather restricted by a few criteria, but have seen a lot of great advice and opinions on here, so thought I'd float the question:
Looking for a jerkbait/topwater casting rod (to be paired with a Citica for working Pop-R's, Zara's, X-Rap's, Husky-Jerks, etc.)
a)price is a very real factor, looking at about $100
b)gotta be a two piece (I realize the difference, but without a rod locker or bigger tow vehicle, this is the reality)
I have a Clarus 6'6' Med-Fast I really like, but a St Croix Premier 6'6" Med-Fast caught my eye the other day, looked at the Mojo too of similar spec's but criteria b) takes that line out of the running
I might be getting ahead here, but also expect the Compre to enter the discussion at some point, or maybe even a Rapala R-Type?
Any opinions appreciated, gotta tide me over until I get back out on the ice
