Fishing with the little one

I took my #1 gal out on Saturday for a few hours in search of perch on the St Lawrence. The fishing was slow but we had a blast eating peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and watching down the hole for "whales". We almost had to leave when Zoe saw a pike come tearing in after my little perch spoon. She was absolutely terrified but I managed to settle her down when I reassured her that "we will only catch the baby fish today". :D

Love it! There is no better feeling than fishing with my two little girls even when they don't catch anything. Kids just have a positive outlook on every activity. Brings me back to good ole days fishing with my dad. Cherish the moments and memories they grow too fast. Cheers!

Awwww, she is a pretty little thing.

Peanut butter & jelly sandwiches, fishing and Dad: a perfect day for a princess.

Funny, I remember being terrified of pike when I was little, too. I used to shove the rod at my Dad or big brother when I got one on, because I was afraid of them and that I'd be "pulled in". Now I have to restrain myself from grabbing the rod out of my kids' hands when they have a nice toothie on.

Here is the start of many wonderful fishing adventures with your sweet daughter. Treasure the times, as I'm sure you do.

That's great stuff! Maybe some of us need a support group--"Guys who often ice fish because they bring their daughter with them." I'll join as a charter member. But they are a ton of fun to have along. My daughter's still a bit too young to fish, but she sure loves releasing the small perch back down the hole. I'll be really happy if she becomes a regular fishing partner in the future.

Fishing with kids is awesome. ON my way to Muskrat this weekend, my 4 yr old, Owyn, grabs my fishing regs book and starts flipping through it. He spots a picture of someone holding about a 40 lb muskie and promptly tells me he wants to catch "dat one".

So, I told him there weren't any muskie where we were going, but there might be pike which is almost the same. So, now he wants to catch "pikey" hahah.
