I woke up having icefishing-itis disease and called in sick to work.
There was only one cure and that was to go fishing.
I packed up and headed down to Petrie on walleye bay for a day's fish.
By 2pm I got the "hello, conservation officer" call from outside my hut from the MNR officer checking licences and bait for invasive species.
I showed my credentials and on his way he went checking all the huts.
Just a reminder for everyone, the guys in green are out there and are checking everybody.
Make sure you got your licence and that it's up to date.
cheers,
Bassman40
P.S. the fishing sucked but it was better than a day in the office!

For the records I spent more than one hour to finally find a place to get my license renewed.
That was 10 days back and it was a really "bad days".
Every time they were like "oh sorry we didn't receive them yet".
Come on !!! it should be ready for Jan the 1st !!!
Anyways, that is right keep your license up too date

Good to see those guys are out there again.
Last time I was out at crappie bay they were there.
Always nice to have a chat with them.

Gee, Bits and Baits posted that they had them in on Dec. 18th, 2010. Wonder what the problem was for those other places?

Hey Dan, did you have to wait until the new year to do it online? A couple of years ago, the site wouldn't let me buy one ahead of time, which just seemed stupid.

You can buy on-line ahead of time. I renewed mine on-line for 3 years on Dec 15th, printed out the temporary licence..... forgot where I put the temporary licence.... printed out a replacement. Good sysytem only issue was you have to buy a 3 year licence.

I did mine on line as well and it was as easy as could be once the site was available. I must have checked 20 times only to get some version of a "the site is temporariily unavailable" message.

Here's a good question.......
If I live in Quebec but want to go fish in Petrie Island .... I don't need a Ontario fishing licence as I'm fishing the River right ?
