Fishing Rice Lake

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Fishing Rice Lake

Post by hlolver »

I hope to fish Rice Lake next Tuesday with a couple buddies. Probably fish mostly for bass and walleye, maybe throw a couple Musky baits. Any comments or suggestions?

Rice for me at this time of year is usually fished at night. Walleye. Jerkbaits, shallow on shorelines. No shortage of wind lately.....find the shorelines on that lake that have been pounded with wind. It's a good thing. Bewdley end :D
If Winnipeg gets a hockey team, Toronto will want one too.....

Also look for deeper weeds near the eastern islands, there should be deep cabbage weeds near them with a potential for some really big fish.
I've caught some monster Bass and Muskie there in the past.
Always check out stream and river mouths at this time of year too. Great spots for large predators to bulk-up on baitfish. Look for warmer waters (sunny sides) and fish slow. Waters are getting colder.
Good Luck!
