Ottawa river skunked me!!!

Dropped the boat at the ferry this morning, headed for the weedy bay at the right heading towards rockland. Looked like a perfect area and nothing. Tried a couple of lillies here and there and nothing.
Then headed to lochaber bay which had all the making of crazy spot. Spent about an hour in there and only got 1 descent hit but it was missed.
After 3 times on this river I swear there are no fish in there...flipped jigs, crazy minnows, walked tubes, tones of spinner/buzz baits. I actually tried stuff I didn't even know I owned lol! Even tried a peperette!!!!
I'm done with the river, unless I want to go for an hour or 2 after work since it's so close...but no more fishing days!!
Thanks to the river I have no more confidence in my fishing skills lol... The little confidence I had is gone hehehe

I get your frustration .. we've all been there ... it's tough sometimes especially when others are doing pretty well in the same general area. So vent away !!
But the Ottawa has been pretty good to me although I haven't fished that much closer to the city ... more up the valley ... never had trouble catching fish up there ... bass, sturgen, pike, etc ... not like I've fished in more remote regions for sure but it seems like you're always into some sort of fish.
It seems like you're trying all the right stuff though ... for me when things are not working I go back to the scented baits ... like the power tubes in brown or crawfish ... at least you'll scare up a few small ones ...

They really should be specific about the Ottawa River... That could be anywhere from Oka up to Tamiskaming! The stretches of river are SOOOOo different when fishing it is like being on different bodies of water completely.
Soo... where were they fishing?

Hard to cover has much ground as the 68 boats...plus they didn't fish the week following a tournament lol. Heheh I had no idea!
Maybe I should of just followed them around!

I would drive a Thousand miles in the opposite direction before I would fish the Ottawa River.....

Today (Tuesday) was a tough day for me too. Fished all day on the Ottawa and only got three hits. Sunday was alright but today was frustrating. Maybe with the full moon they feed all night and then sleep all day.

Let's see here, Lac Superior? or The St. Lawrence?
